This is a very late example of the 1872 model American Grade. It is from a run marked "not delivered," which implies it was still in stock when the Waltham ledgers were prepared around 1900. The serial number is 2,788,088. There were a total of 1,730 American Grade 1872 models made with 800 still unsold in 1900. 

It is housed in a Waltham display case that has been plated gold.
